Flashes

I know i said in my last blog that the next one will be about the similarities between Nablus and Amman, but in this visit I'm having strange feelings and I've noticed things i didn't realize before and i would like to share them with you. I will try to to describe to you the deep difference meaning of life between Amman and Nablus.

Small things I've noticed this time of my visit to Amman but they have a huge and deep meaning in my point of view. Every time i travel in the car, i think involuntarily that we are going to face a check point. A few seconds past before i realize that there are no check points here and you drive freely to anywhere you want, the only thing that might stop you is a traffic light or if you got caught in the rush hour. In Amman, if it popped toy your mind to go to a cafe', a coffee shop, a restaurant or any place at 12:00 a.m., there is no problem, you don't have to worry about settlers who might interrupt your journey to steal, damage your car or even kill you. The roads are well-lighted and it's safe because people are everywhere, you are not alone, you don't have to be scared.

The Jordanian flag, i can see it everywhere i looked, in the streets, at the top of schools, high buildings, restaurants, coffee shops, in the cars, on the books,,,. There is no other flag, only the Jordanian, it can be replaced with a NEW one not ANOTHER one. How joyful feeling the flying flag of the Kingdom give you, a feeling of belonging, pride and strength...

Each time i visit anyone of my relatives, i couldn't participate in their conversations, i remain silent half of the time. Their topics are so different from ours, they discuss things we don't have back home. They basically  talk about their LIVES, their NORMAL LIVES, their jobs, for example: someone who recently graduated and found a job , other one who got married ... I listen carefully, there is no talking about martyrs or anyone who got arrested unfairly or injured !!Those few words are the basic topics in our conversations back home. A friend of mine who i met in the University is from Tulkarem once visited me at my house, the first question i asked her once she arrived is " how are the roads and check points on your way from Tullkarem to Nablus ??," even before welcome or I'm happy that are visiting me !!

I'm spending a really good time here, but I'm cautiously  happy. I just can't be 100% relaxed and happy, it is something i can't control because it is in my nature to be prepared that at any moment i will read or hear a bad news happening somewhere to someone. That how life is in my home land and i was born and raised in a country that never experience peace nor safety. I remember an accident that is a quite funny happened to me here, i was at my uncle's house when i suddenly heard a loud fire works, i stood up immediately and screamed "SETTLERS", everyone looked surprisingly and said  :"what settlers, there are no settlers here, it's a wedding in the neighborhood, calm down,,"

Here, you can safely leave your house, safely drive to anywhere at any time, safely LIVE. I'm not saying that life here is perfect because people surely will face problems in their lives, it is life not Heaven, but they have a grace that makes life different, they are safe, free and secured. How lucky the Jordanian are with their king and kingdom, may Allah bless those friendly people and maintain peace among them... May Allah be with us to retrieve our freedom and our lands.......

From Nablus to Amman

On Tuesday morning ,at exactly 7:05 a.m., i left Nablus on my way to Amman to visit my relatives there. This is not my first time to Amman, but i feel nostalgic each time i lrave my people and my country. I was listening to An-Najah station, the situations were tense everywhere, that made me more worry about everyone i left behind.
Jericho is the city where we head if we want to travel anywhere in the world, i know that we are there when i start seeing these beautiful mountains below, also the palm trees and green houses. when you go to Jericho you experience the feeling of becoming diff ( Jericho is 800 feet below sea level, it is the lowest city in the whole world .)

The road takes about 45 minutes, then i headed to Jericho departure hall, after that, we passed about 5 Israeli check points and change our bus at each point , these are mandatory   security procedures varies between checking our passports and our Palestinian's IDs.

Our journey to Jordan begins by passing a beautiful valley called " wadi Shuia'b" , the geographical nature is similar to Jericho, the mountains look white too and the pressure on my ears still very high. Little by little, the geographical nature changes, the white mountains disappears, i start seeing olives trees cover the mountains and the air pressure return to normal.

The road to Amman takes about 45 minutes, the roads and the general scenes are similar to Nablus, actually i feel like I'm home, the people are very friendly, the streets, the buildings and everything around me is very familiar, I never felt strange when I'm here and that is a good feeling (y). Here is a little information that will probably amazed you, Amman is only about 160 km from Nablus, if we exclude the procedures, the journey takes no more than 2 hours by car, that's another reason why i feel like I'm home, As a mater of a fact, Amman is closer to Nablus than Hebron !! Surprising right ,, My next blog will be about interesting places i will go , the friendly people of Jordan and the similarities between those beautiful two cities :) .

For our Jerusalem ...

I still remember clearly the last time i visited Jerusalem, i was in the fifth grade, today after 15 years i still remember that visit like it was yesterday . Although Jerusalem is only 65 km. far from Nablus, interring the city is more complicated than you think.  Every sense of beauty in Jerusalem comes from the heart of the contradictions and the diversity of its landmarks and its embrace of the three monotheistic religions . In this blog I will try to describe briefly and clearly the most prominent landmarks in Jerusalem, namely: the Dome of the Rock and Al-Aqsa Mosque.

           The Dome of the Rock

The poet Tamim Al-barghoti wrote  wonderful lines in describing the beauty of the Dome of the Rock in Arabic , i translated them and i hope i kept the same beauty of them :
"In Jerusalem the definition of beauty is a blue octagon
surmounted by a golden dome
seems in my opinion like a convex mirror where you see the face of the sky summarized on it"

We can conclude from these lines that the poet describes the Dome of the Rock not  Al-Aqsa mosque i, as the Dome of the Rock is one of the features of  Al Aqsa Mosque. The Dome of the Rock is the most important and the most prominent landmarks of Islamic architecture and is also the oldest Islamic building conservative  its shape and decoration. The Dome was  built by the  Umayyad Caliph Abdul Malik bin Marwan, where he began to build in  685 AD, and finished in 691 AD, the construction was supervised by the engineers : Raja Ben Haywah Al-kindi and Yzid bin Mawla .

The Dome of the Rock is an octagonal building has four doors, and within the appreciation of other based on the pillars and columns drum, inside a circle surrounding a "Rock" by which the Prophet Muhammad ascended (Pray God be upon him) the night of Isra and Mi'raj.
It is estimated that the Rock height of about 1.5 meters, which is irregularly and shaped diameter ranges between 13 and 18 meters, and above the Dome of the Rock in the middle circular diameter of about 20 meters, painted from the outside panels of gold, 35 m height, topped by a crescent height of 5 meters as clear in the photos below :

Under the Rock there is a  cave which is an old  niche : called Chapel of the prophets, you can reach it from the south side through eleven stairs . The shape of the niche is almost  a square , the length of each side about four and a half meters, and has a ceiling height of three meters, and in the ceiling gap to widen the one-meter at the door arch compartment on the marble columns, as in the picture below:

Most of the corridors and walls inside the chapel are covered with mosaic, showing Islamic art in the decoration to form a functional unit in a harmonious and configuration method, where the stone mosaics were made locally. The most beautiful in the decoration are the  Quran verses at the top of the polygon arcs where the verses where wrote in oldest handwriting called  Galilee handwriting.. Ath photos below some of these decorations from inside and outside the Dome of the Rock :

             Al-Aqsa Mosque

Al-Aqsa Mosque is the name of all the buildings located inside the old walled city of Jerusalem at the southeastern corner of Jerusalem city in general . Al-aqsa Mosque  includes the Dome of the Rock and which is  located at the heart of it ,  and the whole clan (domed lead-black) and the fact the extreme southern point of direction, in addition to about 200 teachers located within the boundaries of the Al Aqsa Mosque and Msaagd vary between buildings and domes and water fountains and terraces and corridors of science and Madras and niches and pulpits and minarets and doors and wells and libraries and arenas in addition to the Islamic Museum. Al-Aqsa Mosque is located in the south-eastern corner of the walled city of Jerusalem, as shown below:

               Al-masjed Al-qibli ( what people call it Al-aqsa Mosque )

The rectangular al-Aqsa Mosque and its precincts are 144,000 square meters (1,550,000 sq ft), although the mosque itself is about 35,000 square meters (380,000 sq ft) and could hold up to 5,000 worshipers. It is 272 feet (83 m) long, 184 feet (56 m) wide

The first renovation in the 20th-century occurred in 1922, when the Supreme Muslim council  under Amin al-Husayni (the Grand mufti of Jerusalem ) commissioned Turkish architect Ahmet Kemalettin Bey to restore al-Aqsa Mosque and the monuments in its precincts. The council also commissioned British architects, Egyption engineering experts and local officials to contribute to and oversee the repairs and additions which were carried out in 1924–25 by Kemalettin. The renovations included reinforcing the mosque's ancient Umayyad foundations, rectifying the interior columns, replacing the beams, erecting a scaffolding , conserving the arches and drum of the main dome's interior, rebuilding the southern wall, and replacing timber in the central nave with a slab of concrete. The renovations also revealed Fatimid-era mosaics and inscriptions on the interior arches that had been covered with plastwork . The arches were decorated with gold and green-tinted gypsum and their timber tie beams were replaced with brass.  A quarter of the stained glass windows also were carefully renewed so as to preserve their original Abbasid and Fatimid designs.Severe damage was caused by the 1927 and 1937 earthquakes, but the mosque was repaired in 1938 and 1942.

The overall objective of this blog is to clarify the differentiate  between Al-Aqsa Mosque and the Dome of the Rock , also to draw attention to its  religious importance .These sacred landmarks are  subjected daily to threats, desecration and abuse by the occupation forces in an attempt to obliterate these monuments and Judaize it and deny the right of Muslims in them and to drop Islamic character of them. Jerusalem is a right of every Muslim, not just every Palestinian, and we must defend it by all means available, even through words , as is the case with this blog ..

Find your inner "ness"

You meet people everyday, have you ever thought of meeting yourself ?? Have you ever thought of taking a journey to discover your own self ??

A lot of us think that if you have a job with a good salary, a stable and a good social life ,then you are successful and should be satisfied, but I think people who live that way are consumed by life without realizing that and missing a lot of themselves.
How i did reach this conclusion? Well, you need to look at your life from a different perspective, let me explain to you how ,,,

Breaking the routine absolutely will not harm the organization of your life, you just need to give yourself more space to explore things in you which did not appear on the surface before, you will discover things about yourself you never thought you have. Add more fun and let some light goes in deep in your soul. How ?? maybe you want to try a few things i do myself.

Set an hour everyday where you separate yourself from everything around you, sit in a quite place, maybe with a cup of coffee and your favorite chocolate, listen to a quite, peaceful music if you want, or read something for Ralph Waldo Emerson, (( do you know that Emerson's works alone can teach you everything you need about living with grace and happiness )), or choose any other rich book, sink in the words and keep a pen and a paper close, maybe there is a hidden writer inside you waiting to be released.Unleash yourself and set your mind free.It is not a condition that this hour must be at home , you can take a walk or go to the gym for example. Try to oblige yourself to this hour as much as you can.

You can if you want : we are all born with unlimited potentials and abilities, it is us who restrict them for no reason. In my opinion, there is nothing you can't do or you are not good at, you just need to focus and believe in yourself. for example, you may like to participate in a race but you don't because you think you can't run fats enough. Well, studies showed that a human being uses only 13% of his physical strength. Now you know why some people are athletes and others are not, they simply concentrate on what they sure they have and believe in themselves.

Try to do things you've never done before : challenge yourself in cooking for example, cook a sophisticated meal or make an elegant desert, YES YOU CAN, prepare the ingredients, follow the recipe and you will succeed, it is not a rocket science after all.

Make the best of your hidden creativity : open your closet, bring out those outfits which is old or you don't like, use your imagination and change their style, turn them into things that expresses you .Go to the market, buy an embroidery set, watch a few you-tubes and make an embroidered stuff like a purse for example, they will be more valuable to you because you made them, you can give them as special gifts to close friends, or maybe pass them to your sons and grand sons.

I'm sure that each one of us has a specific hobby or habit like reading, but why stick yourself to one experience while you are free to do so many more, write poems or prose, read different types of book other than the types you used to, paint , cook , practice yoga , learn a new language , think outside the box, you are full of surprises.
Maybe you say that you can't do that because you don't have time, but no, you can. Organize your life, put yourself at the top of your priority list, pay it forward . Keep in your mind that life will not wait for you to have time and at the same time  you will not remain young forever.A few years later, life will force you to slow down because you are aging and you will find yourself empty with a lot of free time and nothing to do !!!

Giving attention to your abilities and hobbies also enhance your self-confidence, increases your positive energy and this leads you to perform your duties with higher efficiency. This ultimately will increase your internal peace and help you solve wisely  any problem you face which will reduces gradually the tension in your life .....

To Whom It May Concern

Dedicated To Those Who Still Have Conscience

P.S : This article is absolutely not political nor provocative,  it is the voice of human emotions, please read the feelings and the thoughts not just the words....

What is a 16-year-old boy worst nightmare in a normal life could be ?? A loss in video game, a damaged cellphone, or may be a fight with a close friend ??? The worst nightmare for Muhammad was something he never imagined nor anyone of us, his last moments of life were brutal  in a way no normal human being could imagine !!! Here is his story ...

Muhammad is a 16-year-old teenager from Sho'fat one of Jerusalem's suburb ,  left his house at 3:30 am to pray at the mosque, he was waiting near his father's shop for probably to meet his friends to go together to the mosque. A car stopped near him, 3 settlers stepped out of it towards him, they started hitting him and force him to their car, the neighbors heard his screams but the car left and they couldn't save him... Everyone started looking for Muhammad everywhere but the searches were useless, after few hours the police announced that they found a charred dead body with signs of torture in an abandoned woods near by . The body was very deformed and the father couldn't identify his son,  a DNA test was made to confirm that the body belong to Muhammad Abu Khdeir, the kidnapped boy .......

       #DontBurnOurBoys

What i wrote previously is what his family told the media and what the cameras on street recorded the time of the kidnapping , what happened after the body was found  is even more shocking. The dead body showed signs of torture and burns ( the autopsy results are still not officially published and what you may read on the social media is probably rumors ).  I want you to imagine with me IF YOU CAN, how much pain Muhammad had to endure , how scared he was , how many times he begged the settlers for his life, how hard he screamed for someone to help him, how fast his heart was beating to reach death to relief him from this seemingly endless nightmare and what was he thinking about when he was under torture !!!!! You may stop yourself from imagining that because no normal human being would do such terrible thing to another human being . Muhammad was murdered to wake us up and enlighten our conscience to his rapped childhood which was ended in the most terrible way..

I, personally, did not expect his mother to remain sane after what had happen to her son, but she was brave enough to tell what happened that night, hopping that the world would hear her and help her to get her son justice. Here is what she said: " Muhammad was a quite boy, loved by all his family, friends and neighbors, he left the house to pray at the mosque like everyday, after 15 minutes, my nephew came and told that a boy was kidnapped by settlers and  neighbors couldn't help him, i asked where is Muhammad and he said i didn't see him. My heart almost stopped, i called him on his cellphone but it was off. I told his father and we called the police  , everyone start looking for him but with no use, he just vanished. I knew at that moment that the settlers won't bring back alive. (crying and screaming) Why did they murdered my son in such way? why did they burn him ? what did he do to them ? how could they do what they did ??? " ....

          #SayNoToRacism

This crime against Muhammad is controversial to the international laws and
humanitarian logic, it is an invitation for the world to take a closer look of the constant danger the Palestinian children live everyday , this inhuman crime did not stop the Zionist settlers form trying to kidnap more innocent children, help us to expose their brutal actions against the Palestinian people, help us to get justice for Muhammad and bring the Palestinian children their faith in life, their childhood dreams were shattered by what happened to Muhammad .... It is our children s' normal right to have a safe life, even if they had to live in country which live a continuous conflict, that does not mean they have to pay the price for that. Muhammad was murdered and we could't stop that, but we can stop this murder from happening again to another boy ....
